NAKID is proud to announce the establishment of The Bria S. McZeal Memorial Scholarship. The Bria S. McZeal Memorial Scholarship was developed by NAKID to honor the contributions of Bria as a leader in the field of social work, church, community and to acknowledge the outstanding public service of a student of higher education.

Bria S. McZeal was born on April 24,1994. Bria’s life’s passion was service to others through ministry, mentoring, encouraging, inspiring, praising God, and winning souls for Christ by letting her ever bright light shine. Bria attended Port Arthur ISD her early educational years before attending and graduating from Legacy Christian Academy. She attended Prairie View A&M University and completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from Lamar University in Beaumont, TX. Prior to graduation, she enrolled in the University of Texas-Arlington in their accelerated Master’s Social Work program and completed it one year. Bria began working in her vocation at Baptist Hospital October of 2017. Bria was the recipient of numerous awards including The Baptist Way Award after serving for less than two years. Bria was the youngest employee and the employee with the shortest tenure to ever receive it. Bria continued to work within the community and help people; she represented Nakid Foundation as a mentor to youth girls and Vice President of the board until her death.

The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance for students who embody the qualities of its namesake and have an overwhelming desire to advance academically. Recipients will be awarded based on their service, leadership, and academics. Applicants must meet all the requirements listed below and submit the completed application when it opens up for submissions. For questions regarding the application, required documents, or application process, please contact NAKID at crystaljoyel@thenakidfoundation.org
